The Jewelry Box

My family owns The Jewelry Box, which is fixture downtown for over 30 years. You can buy everything in there from fake diamond rings to five carat rocks. My grandfather opened the place several decades ago and felt that he wanted to cater to high-end customers, as well as little kids spending their piggy bank money. They’re all kinds of customers that come in out of there and I really like working there. One day this place will be mine and I am going to do everything I can to continue its tradition.

Last month we started carrying CZ necklaces. My father had seen his granddaughter playing with some of them and thought that they would be a great addition to our inventory. Plus, he couldn’t really believe the markups on these things, which were absolutely incredible. Now we have all kinds of young teenagers coming in to buy things like CZ stud earrings for their boyfriends and girlfriends. Business is doing incredibly well and we couldn’t be happier running our family-owned business, but every once in a while I start thinking about doing something else. I’ve always wanted to be a professional pool player, but this would not be a very wise thing to do.
